Coquitlam Lions Water Polo Depends on Parent Volunteers
The Coquitlam Lions are responsibile to ensure there is at least 1 parent volunteer at the score table for each league game.
Everyone wants to watch their child play, BUT in order for the game to take place, table workers are essential.
If you are unsure of how the table works, please go over and ‘shadow’ someone so you will know. It isn’t a tough job.
Volunteer Coaching
Do you need volunteer hours for school? Coquitlam Lions Water Polo encurages our Cadets or Youth players to volunteer on deck for the Lions program, please see either Shane Pope or Leanna Vazeos. We have large player numbers at the Atom and Bantam level and could use an extra pair of hands on deck, even if it is on a casual basis.
Gentle Parent Reminder
Please leave the coaching to the coaches. Over the years, often parents voice their frustrated with their child’s performance in the pool either at practice or games. Understand that Lions runs a skill development league and coaches are very aware of that skill level in their own pool.
Lions are proud of their batch of young coaches this season, and we have seen the coaches work hard to bring out the best in each player. Allow our coaches to be the driving force at practices and games and sit back and enjoy the social side of water polo.
Remember, be positive, even if players have not had the best game or practice that week. This is a team sport and coaching your child from the side lines defeats the energy of the coaches on deck. It’s only a game. If you have serious concerns regarding practices, schedules, behaviour etc, please feel free to contact any of the executive regarding these issues.
